Divisibility Rules – Simplified

This Article lists down the Divisibility Rules of numbers (till 20). To have a look at a few examples watch the video above.

  • 2 – Unit’s digit of the number shall be even or 0
  • 3 – Sum of the digits of the number shall be divisible by 3
  • 4 – Last 2 digits of the number shall be divisible by 4
  • 5 – Number shall end in 0 or 5
  • 6 – Number shall be divisible by 2 and 3
  • 7 – Unit’s digit of the number is multiplied by 2 and subtracted from the remaining digits and the number obtained shall be divisible by 7((Repeat the cycle as many times as needed)
  • 8 – Last 3 digits of the number shall be divisible by 8
  • 9 – The sum of the digits of the number shall be divisible by 9
  • 10 – Number shall be divisible by 2 and 5
  • 11 – The difference of the sum of digits at odd and even places is either 0 or a multiple of 11 (Always start from the right)
  • 12 – Number shall be divisible by 4 and 3
  • 13 – Unit’s digit of the number is multiplied by 4 and added to the remaining digits and the number obtained shall be divisible by 13 (Repeat the cycle as many times as needed)
  • 14 – Number shall be divisible by both 2 and 7
  • 15 – Number shall be divisible by 5 and 3
  • 16 – Last 4 digits of the number shall be divisible by 16
  • 17 – Unit’s digit of the number is multiplied by 5 and subtracted  from the remaining digits and the number obtained shall be divisible by 17 (Repeat the cycle as many times as needed)
  • 18 – Number shall be divisible by 2 and 9
  • 19 – Unit’s digit of the number is multiplied by 2 and added to the remaining digits and the number obtained and the number obtained shall be divisible by 19 (Repeat the cycle as many times as needed)
  • 20 – Number shall be divisible by 4 and 5
